An exhibition of about 70 masterpieces selected from a collection of about 1,000 works is being held at the Asahi Beer Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art in Kyoto from March 19, 2022 (Saturday).
The exhibition is divided into three areas: the Yamanote Pavilion features major post-Impressionist paintings by Klee and others, while the Main Pavilion introduces works by two artists who led the British ceramic art world and had close ties to Japan. The Chichu-kan, named "Jewel Box of the Earth," features works depicting water scenes, including Monet's "Waterlilies" and Signac's "Venice" and other famous works. The expansive garden is also a highlight, and the greenery in early summer and the water lilies standing in the pond will further enliven your appreciation of the works.
During the exhibition, RIHGA Royal Hotel Kyoto will offer special sweets as a related event, and the beautiful cakes featuring Rouault's stained glass and Klee's angels are sure to be a photo-worthy sight.
