The beautiful world depicted by a contemporary beauty painter "Ichiro Tsuruta - Prayer of Musees" / Souhonzan Daigoji Temple

Saturday, October 15, 2022 - Sunday, December 04, 2022
9:00-17:00 (last admission 16:30)
Sohonzan Daigoji Temple Reihokan

An exhibition of about 100 works by Kyoto-based painter and illustrator Ichiro Tsuruta is being held at the Reihokan of Daigoji Temple until December 4, 2022 (Sunday).
The exhibition features Tsuruta's early and new works, including paintings of beautiful women and Buddhist paintings, depicting Buddhist prayers and the "beauty" that resides in the hearts of the people. Influenced by the Rimpa school of painting, Tsuruta's works, with their simplicity and deep spirituality, quietly attract the viewer.
From among the 150,000 temple treasures of Daigoji, important cultural properties and national treasures such as the seated statue of Maitreya Bodhisattva by Kaikei will be on display. The exhibition is designed to let visitors feel "the heart of caring for others" through the beauty of paintings and the traditional beauty of cultural properties.
