From September 17, 2022 (Sat), an exhibition introducing picture books that bring Swiss culture to life will be held at the Asahi Beer Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art.
Swiss picture books such as "The Bremen Ongakutai" and "The Wolf and the Seven-Headed Pyramid" are widely popular in Japan. The book uses a variety of techniques to depict scenes that look fun but are in fact scary, and scenes that look scary but are in fact fun.
In cooperation with the Small Picture Book Museum in Nagano Prefecture, this exhibition will feature approximately 70 original drawings, lithographs, and handwritten picture books by the three artists. In addition, sweets inspired by the house of sweets in "Hansel and Gretel" and "Engadiner," a traditional Swiss pastry, will be served in the tearoom during the exhibition period. Enjoy the world of Swiss picture books with both the eyes and the palate.
