Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Art Museum

An exhibition featuring artifacts decorated with animals will be held at the Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Art Museum in Kyoto from June 18, 2022 (Sat).
Since ancient times, people have decorated their crafts with animal designs, and especially since the middle of the Edo period (1603-1868), people have been creating works that more realistically reproduce the body structure and texture of animals. This exhibition introduces 70 crafts from the late Edo and Meiji periods, including sword fittings and vases, that feature lifelike animal designs. Come and see these creatures full of life that seem ready to spring into action at any moment.
