A long-established Western-style restaurant that has been in business for more than 100 years and is the pride of Miyagawa-cho. The specialty "Fukuya Rice," with its eye-catching and vivid colors, was created 70 to 80 years ago at the request of a geiko. The dish is made with a half-boiled egg on top of the nostalgic ham rice and fresh tomatoes instead of tomato sauce for a light and refreshing finish. The beef cutlet sandwich, cut into a size that is easy to eat even with a maiko's small mouth, is also popular as a gift for actors. This is a famous restaurant with episodes unique to the Hanamachi district.
Fukuya Rice, named after the restaurant's name, is 980 yen. Simple yet robust flavor. The acidity of the tomatoes, peeled and cut into small pieces for easy eating, accentuates the taste.
The chef in charge of the restaurant is Ryuji Kono, who has worked at such prestigious hotels as Aman Kyoto and the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo. The lunch set menu includes appetizers, soups, and entrees, while the evening menu is basically a la carte. He also makes use of Japanese ingredients, and uses red miso for his signature dish, a stewed hamburger steak, to give it a deep flavor. Café Madlag is a famous restaurant that connects Kyoto's coffee shop culture to the next generation. The most notable menu item here is the children's lunch that most visitors order. There are two sets of children's lunches available: Set A with a hamburger steak for 1,380 yen and Set B with shrimp cream croquettes for 1,430 yen. Both sets come with pudding for dessert, which is very satisfying!

Grill Capital Toyotei, a Western-style restaurant established in 1897, has expanded to the Kyoto Station underground shopping mall (Porta) for casual drop-in customers. The hamburger steak, served wrapped in aluminum foil, is made from coarsely minced, hand-kneaded meat, carefully grilled, and topped with a generous amount of hot special beef stew sauce.
