Now Open in Fushimi, Kyoto! [Med Curry-sha], Known for Its Spice-Infused European-Style Curry, Opens a Brick-and-Mortar Location

[Med Curry-sha] (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture), which had gained popularity while operating out of a rented space, has finally opened its long-awaited store in the Fushimi-Nayamachi Shopping District and is off to a fresh start. The owners, Mr. and Mrs. Takahashi, are close friends with picture book author Tomonori Taniguchi, and a large painting by Mr. Taniguchi is displayed inside the restaurant. As they explained, “We wanted to create a restaurant where this painting would look right at home,” and true to their words, the interior has been transformed into a warm, picture-book-like space.
We offer a "Spiced European-Style Curry" that combines the best of both spice curry and European-style curry. Made without flour but thickened with vegetables, it’s spicy yet packed with richness and umami, offering a comforting flavor.
Beef and Your Choice of Keema Curry Combo: 1,500 yen. A generous dish that lets you enjoy both our classic beef curry and either our sake lees curry or our weekly rotating keema curry. Our homemade mango lassi (550 yen) has a mild flavor that helps soothe the heat of the spices.
Given Fushimi’s location, dishes made with sake lees are also popular. The sake lees keema curry—made with ingredients like konjac, deep-fried tofu, and root vegetables, similar to those found in a sake lees soup, all prepared in a Japanese-style sauce—is truly a curry that captures the essence of Kyoto.
The restaurant is open in the evenings on Fridays, Saturdays, and the day before holidays. With a wide selection of drinks—including whiskeys curated by the owner—we recommend enjoying a highball in the evening.
