From Thursday, September 17, 2026, to Tuesday, January 19, 2027, the exhibition “Children Who Grew Up with Manga: 40 Years of Manga Culture in Europe” will be held at the [Kyoto International Manga Museum] (Nakagyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture).
As part of a series of special exhibitions commemorating the museum’s 20th anniversary, this exhibition focuses on the history of manga’s reception in Europe (France, Belgium, Spain, Italy, and Germany) over the past 40 years. In addition to tracing this evolution through the characteristics of manga and the cultural impact generated by its popularity, the exhibition also features works created by European children who grew up with manga and have since become manga artists themselves. Take this opportunity to explore the past, present, and future of manga as it flourishes as a global cultural phenomenon.
