3,850Yen (tax included)

It is elegant both for decoration and for spinning and playing. Kyo-koma", a spear used in the Gion Festival

Kyo-koma, a traditional Kyoto craft, is made by winding flat cotton strings together to create a colorful, glossy appearance. The round shape of the kyokoma represents happiness, and the turning of the koma has been associated with the wish that "everything will turn out well. The kyokoma was an elegant plaything of the imperial court. Instead of wrapping a string around the shaft and throwing it, the kyokoma is played in the elegant way by pinching the bamboo shaft with the fingers and spinning it to enjoy watching the coloring of the top. The "Kyo Koma Gion Yamaboko" was made by Yoshiyuki Nakamura of Jakuyasu into the Gion Matsuri floats that add color to the summer season. Both floats are designed with three parts. The base with wheels is placed on the bottom, the "Kyo-koma" is placed on top of the base, and the symbolic long sword and the moon are placed on the top of the bamboo shaft to create the object of the floats. Although it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, the ingenious construction makes it a wonderful decoration in your room or as a gift. Of course, the top can be turned.
*Not sold as a set.
*Please remove the long sword and moon motifs when turning the koma.
