AIKA CRAFT Round plate (5")
Directly from the manufacturer

2,090Yen (tax included)

AIKACRAFT's plates are picturesque even when placed on a table. The neat shape of the plates, which are formed after clay is sliced using the tatara process, is designed for easy use in everyday life. They look great no matter what you put on them, and when stacked, they take up little space, so they can be stored neatly. It looks great not only as a curry or pasta dish, but also as a plate for leftover stew, fruit, or sweets, so you will want to use it for all sorts of things.
The design is inspired by the streets, water, air, light, and soil of Miyazu, the castle town of the sea where AIKACRAFT has its workshop. The black "eraser charcoal" of burnt cedar used to prevent erosion from the sea breeze, the "water surface" of Miyazu Bay fed by the forests of the Oeyama mountain range, the fantastic "morning fog" seen in the Yura River and Aso Sea on winter mornings, and the "rainy sky" representing the changing sky are beautifully reflected in the design, each with a different taste not only in color but also in the surface texture. The colors as well as the surface texture of each piece have different tastes.
