The Chichu-kan "Underground Jewel Box," where Claude Monet's "Waterlilies" are exhibited, was added to the museum after its opening, designed by architect Tadao Ando. The passageway to the subterranean pavilion, which is semi-subterranean to preserve the landscape, is covered with glass, allowing visitors to view the greenery of the garden.

［The Asahi Group Oyamazaki Villa Museum of Art was opened by local volunteers, Kyoto Prefecture, Oyamazaki Town, and Asahi Breweries, Ltd. in cooperation to protect the architecture and surrounding nature.
