赤の看板を頼りにレトロなビルの階段を上がると、温もりある空間がゲストを迎え入れてくれる［Méton］（京都府京都市左京区）。看板と同じ赤を基調としたムードのある店内は、アパレル業界でセンスを磨いた店主・山下さんだからこそ作れる空間だ。

「飲食で働いている人たちがみんなイキイキと楽しそうで」と自らも飲食の世界に飛び込んだ山下さんは、［歩粉］や［NISHITOMIYA］といった人気店で経験を積み、デザートを任されるまでに。その腕を知る周囲の人々から背中を押され、［Méton］をオープンした。カヌレやシュークリームなど店内で焼き上げる本格的なフランス菓子のほか、スパイスを利かせた甘くないマドレーヌやアテになる食材を使ったキッシュ、オムレツなど、ワインと合わせたくなるメニューも見逃せない。

アテにぴったりの生ハムとマドレーヌサレ700円。日替わりのグラスワイン1100円〜は、店主セレクトのナチュラルワイン。フレッシュなブドウの風味が、マドレーヌサレのスパイスとふんわり混ざり合う

「カフェやバーなどの型にはめず、好きなタイミングで楽しんでもらえる場所になれば」という想いのとおり、食後に甘いお菓子で締めたり待ち合わせの前に1杯嗜んだりと、思い思いの過ごし方ができそうだ。

プリン600円は一口で「これこれ！」と言いたくなる、ちょっと硬めの口当たりが嬉しい。カラメルソースの苦味も絶妙
