Takashi Murakami, who is at the forefront of contemporary art, will hold his first solo exhibition in Japan in eight years at the Kyocera Museum of Art in Kyoto from February 3 (Sat) to September 1 (Sun), 2024.
This is the first large-scale solo exhibition outside of Tokyo for Murakami, who has been deeply interested in and inspired by Kyoto, where painters were active during the Edo period.
He is currently working on special versions of works inspired by Japanese art, such as the "Korin" series, as well as a number of new works that reference Kyoto and its history, and approximately 160 of his approximately 170 works will be shown for the first time at this exhibition.
