Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, and its grounds are decorated with beautiful flowers of the four seasons. The "Kyoto Nishiyama-Nagaoka Tenmangu Hanatouro (Flower Lantern Festival)" will be held until December 3, 2023 (Sun.) in conjunction with the lighting up of the Kinkkeien (autumnal foliage garden) on the grounds of Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine.

In addition to the annual lighting up of Kinkeien, this year about 300 lanterns will illuminate the area from the Otorii gate of Nagaoka Tenmangu Shrine to the approach to Kinkeien, enveloping the area in a fantastic scenery.
