The Museum of Kyoto
The Pia Film Festival (PFF) was launched in 1977 with the theme of "discovering and nurturing new film talent. [The festival will be held at the Kyoto Prefectural Museum of Kyoto from November 19 (Sat) to November 27 (Sun), 2022.
PFF, which widely conveys the fun of independent films, is also called a "gateway to success" for filmmakers, as more than 170 of the winners of the PFF Award, a competition for independent films, have later gone on to become professional filmmakers.
The most noteworthy of these are the "Welcome to Your First Pasolini Experience," which was planned as a special program for the 100th anniversary of Pasolini's birth, and the "Shinji Aoyama Special" featuring three early works by Shinji Aoyama, who passed away suddenly in March of this year.
In addition, the two programs screening for the first time at Sekisui include the popular program "Black & Black," a film and music series in which viewers will enjoy commentary by Peter Barakan, a British broadcaster with numerous radio programs, and the premiere of the latest film by director Tadashi Kiyohara, all of which are not to be missed!
Along with the Competition section, a wide variety of films from Japan and abroad are invited for screening, so there are many films that you may not have a chance to see in the future! Please take this chance to encounter wonderful films.
