Image Forum Festival 2023 Gathering Cloud" will be held for the 37th time this year. This year the festival will be held at the Kyoto Culture Museum from November 16 (Fri) to 19 (Sun), 2023.

The special feature is titled "Gathering Crowds: Film in Shelter 2023," and focuses on filmmakers from Myanmar and Russia who continue to make films in the midst of rapid changes in the social environment, including coups d'etat, war, and conflict.

In addition, the "East Asia Experimental Competition," which introduces the current state of visual art in the East Asian region, will screen 32 works, including installations, and a wide variety of animation, documentary, and experimental films.

Other screenings include a program of rare American experimental films selected by Mark Toscano of the Academy Film Archive, and a collection of short films by Anouk de Clercq, a Belgian artist who has explored the boundaries between reality and imagination through film and imagery.
