In early summer in Kyoto, where fresh greenery grows thick, the beautiful green maple trees are in full bloom. This time, the local editorial department has carefully selected and introduced the recommended spots for green maple. Looking up while looking at the blue maple leaves, let's enjoy a relaxing moment and the lush nature.
Kyoto's oldest power spot [Shimogamo Shrine]. In Tadasu-no-Mori, surrounded by fresh greenery, the murmuring of a stream and the chirping of birds will soothe your soul. The Aoi Festival (Kamo Festival), one of Kyoto's three major festivals, is held on May 15th, and the Mitarai Festival, which is famous for its foot-making ritual, is held for 10 days around the midsummer day of the ox in July.

Kitano Tenmangu Shrine is the headquarters of all Tenmangu Shrines and Tenjin Shrines in Japan, which enshrines Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning. It is famous as a famous place for autumn leaves, but the refreshing beauty of green maple leaves is also exceptional. The "Momiji Garden" in Odoi, a historical site built by Lord Toyotomi Hideyoshi, is open to the public even during the green maple season.
This year, from April 29th (Sat) to May 7th (Sun), it will be lit up at night for the first time. With LED lights, you can enjoy a fantastic light production that is a bit different from the daytime.

In December 2020, the roof was reroofed for the first time in half a century, and the main hall, which is known as the stage of Kiyomizu, has been refurbished. You can enjoy the green maple from various places such as the Niomon Gate and the three-storied pagoda, but the contrast between the main hall and Okunoin, which is known for the stage of Kiyomizu, is a must-see.

Kifune Shrine enshrines Takaokami, the god of water supply. The green maple leaves that cover the stone steps of the approach to the shrine, which are lined with Kasuga lanterns, sway in the wind like a roof, and the sunlight filtering through the foliage is pleasant. In the special light-up of the fresh green at night, the green maple trees illuminated by the light give off a different beauty from the daytime.
