Tofukuji Temple is the main temple of the Tofukuji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. The Tsutenkyo Bridge in the precincts is also known as a famous place for autumn leaves. About 2,000 Japanese maple trees and trident maples fill the valley with a breathtaking beauty.

[Toji] was built as a temple to protect the nation. The five-storied pagoda, a national treasure, is one of the landscapes that symbolize Kyoto. The five-storied pagoda seen through the fresh greenery from around Hyonanoike Pond is lush and beautiful. From May to June every year, you can enjoy azaleas along with blue maple leaves. The precincts are spacious, so you can take your time walking around.

Built by Tokugawa Ieyasu, Nijo Castle is a world cultural heritage site that has been the setting for many historical events. It is also known as a famous place for autumn leaves, but the green maple leaves around the Ninomaru Garden and Ninomaru Palace are refreshing and beautiful. Along with the Kurume Azalea in the western part of the castle and the Omurasaki Azalea planted in the Honmaru Garden, the castle is vividly colored.

Daikakuji Temple is the head temple of the Daikakuji School of Shingon Buddhism, which retains the vestiges of the old imperial palace. Known as one of Japan's three great moon viewing spots, the green maple leaves seen across Osawa Pond are lush and refreshingly beautiful. In addition, you can enjoy the elegant scenery of azaleas in full bloom in front of the Shikidai entrance in mid-May.
