'Tis the season to enjoy dining on kawadoko (riverbeds) in Kyoto under the glare of fresh greenery. In this issue, our local editorial staff introduces some recommended kawadoko that can be experienced easily in Kyoto's Kamo River, Kibune, and Takao areas. Why not spend an elegant time while listening to the murmuring of the river?
This teahouse, which is perched on the Kiyotaki River and overlooks the magnificent natural landscape of Takao and the clear waters of the Kiyotaki River from every seat, began as a place where the grandmother of the first generation served tea to visitors to the Kozanji Temple. Many of the dishes are casual, such as udon noodles and set menus, and you can also use the teahouse only for coffee and tea, such as shaved ice and warabimochi (bracken rice cakes).
