Yakiniku Hayashi, a long-established yakiniku restaurant that has built Kyoto's yakiniku culture, and OICHO, a popular chicken restaurant specializing in yakiniku roasted on a charcoal grill, have joined forces to open a new restaurant, Chicken Yakiniku Hayashi OICHO (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture). The new restaurant, which was opened with one goal in mind, is a 5-minute walk from Karasuma and Shijo stations, 70 meters north of Shijo Shinmachi, making it a convenient location for those on their way home from work or out for the day.
The new style of chicken yakiniku at this hot spot combines Yakiniku Hayashi's special sauce with OICHO's fresh jidoriko (chicken).
For more than 50 years since its establishment, Yakiniku Hayashi has enjoyed a huge following for its specialty, mazayaki, which consists of red meat and horumon (hormone) marinated in a special sweet and spicy thick sauce. Hayashi was thinking of opening a chicken barbeque restaurant as his next development. He asked Mr. Ota of OICHO, a popular chicken restaurant specializing in grilled chicken that serves fresh, morning-drawn Kyotanba chicken, for advice.
The two owners of the famous restaurant trusted each other so much that they agreed to open a chicken yakiniku restaurant together. After a year and a half of preparation, they finally opened "Chicken Yakiniku Hayashi Oicho" with the idea of making yakiniku more casual and chicken yakiniku more delicious.

[Oicho serves only fresh, morning-drawn Kyoto Tanba chicken and Kyoto Aka Jidori chicken. Mr. Ota is a connoisseur of quality chicken. The secret sauce used to marinate the fresh chicken is miso, which has been imported from the Kyoto Central Market since the establishment of the restaurant. The flavor is so rich and powerful that you will not be able to stop eating rice or drinking beer just from the aroma alone.

What is even more remarkable is the salt sauce that Mr. Hayashi, a specialist in sauce, has newly developed. All grilled dishes are served with a choice of miso or salt sauce, so it is recommended to start with the salt sauce and enjoy it lightly, followed by the miso sauce and a hearty meal.
There is also a wide variety of side dishes. Chicken Yukke and Chicken Tataki, which you can enjoy because they are fresh, are must-try items when you come here. They do not make and serve fresh items at all times.
