Healing Time at "I-Dokoro" in an Old Private House near Eigenji Temple in Shiga

Located in the village of Eigenji, with mountains looming in front of it, this restaurant is housed in a 300-year-old private house.

The owner, Mariko Haidani, was born and raised in Tokyo. She has unique experiences, including living in a mountain lodge on Mt. Yatsugatake and working as a cook on an uninhabited island in the Ogasawara Islands. She came across this old house in Eigenji, her husband's hometown, where she met through the mountains, and opened the restaurant to create a relaxing resting place as an extension of her daily life.

Weekly set meal with drink 1500 yen. On this day, it was homemade smoked mackerel chazuke with Masasho tea, a specialty of the restaurant. The aroma of the mackerel, the broth of the Masasho tea, and the egg at the onsen (hot spring) were delicious, and the chopsticks went down a treat!

The Iiya, which also has a library and antique store, offers weekly set menus, drinks, and desserts inspired by bribery. It is also a place to visit for a moment of relaxation when you are tired of your daily routine. The evening hours at Inokoro are also attractive.
