Experience authentic Beijing cuisine and Vories architecture at Tokasaikan in Shijo
The striking Spanish-Baroque Western-style building at the foot of the Shijo Bridge is said to be the only restaurant built by Mr. Vories during his lifetime. Inside the museum, a manual elevator, said to be the oldest in Japan, is still in use.
Authentic Beijing cuisine that emphasizes dried ingredients, delicacies, and materials can be ordered a la carte as well as in courses. A popular menu item is the sweet and sour sweet-and-sour sweet-and-sour pork for 2,000 yen, while the 16,500 yen and 22,000 yen courses also feature braised shark's fin. Courses start at 6,600 yen.
