[2022] 11 recommended exquisite cheesecakes in Kyoto
The Francois Café is a long-established coffee shop in Kyoto. Both the Western street-corner-like exterior and the interior, inspired by the halls of a luxury cruise ship, are exactly as they were when the shop was first established in 1934. The salon space, which has been maintained every 20 years since the early Showa period when students discussed culture and freedom, is now designated as a Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
In such a venerable space, a cup of semi-wine-type coffee will make anyone feel as elegant as if they were a lady or a gentleman. Cakes served here can also be purchased at the confectionery store next door to the south (closed irregularly, please check at the confectionery shop). (Please check with the pastry store as it is closed irregularly.)
