Daigoji Temple

Daigo-ji Temple, which is lined with buildings designated as national treasures in the natural precincts of Mt. Daigo

Daigoji Temple is an old temple known for Hideyoshi Toyotomi's "Daigo no hanami" (cherry blossom viewing in Daigo). It is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, also called "Hana-no-Daigo." About 700 cherry trees, including weeping cherry trees, someiyoshino cherry trees, mountain cherry trees, and double-flowered cherry trees, are in full bloom one after another, and cherry blossom viewing can be enjoyed for a long period of time. The cherry blossoms in full bloom against the backdrop of the five-story pagoda built in the Heian period (794-1192) are also magnificent. There are plenty of seasonal views, historical buildings, temple treasures, and other attractions.

The maple trees and dodan-tsutsuji (azalea) in the precincts of the temple turn bright colors, creating a unique seasonal atmosphere that is also very special.
