2025年7月21日（月・祝）まで、［京都文化博物館］（京都府京都市中京区）にて『祇園祭―山鉾巡行の歴史と文化―』が開催されている。動く美術館とも呼ばれる山鉾の魅力を深掘りする展覧会で、江戸時代の記録や山鉾の装飾に関する資料など11点を展示。初公開となる「山鉾図」には、江戸後期の鉾の姿がスケッチで描かれ、当時の意匠や装飾の歴史をたどることができる。また、ペルシャ絨毯を模して織られた「鶏鉾後懸」など、異国文化を取り入れた装飾品も見逃せない。にぎやかな祭本番を前に、展示を通じてその奥深さをのぞいてみて。
