Rokuo-in Temple

Rokuoin Temple was built by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu in 1379 (the first year of the Koureki era), and its origin is the pagoda that opened Hodananji Temple.
The special nighttime viewing, which will be held from Friday, November 10 to Sunday, December 17, 2023, will be the first time in three years. The temple has been renewed with new stone arrangements on both sides of the bamboo grove typical of Arashiyama, allowing visitors to stroll around during the illumination. The Shariden, which will undergo a three-year restoration project to be completed in October 2023, will also be illuminated for the first time.
