In 2023, the 850th anniversary of the birth of Shinran Shonin and the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Rikkyo sect, and the 1,250th anniversary of the birth of Kobo Daishi and the 1,200th anniversary of the founding of the Shingon sect, Buddhist art and culture will be highlighted at temples associated with Tokugawa Ieyasu and other warlords who lived during the same period. The special exhibition will feature gardens, Buddhist statues, fusuma-e (sliding door paintings), architecture, and other cultural assets that are not usually open to the public.
