Yu-dofu set at Toyoke Chaya

Enjoy our yudofu set meal, accompanied by colorful side dishes, for \1,375. The tofu remains meltingly tender even when heated, and you may accent it with condiments and shichimi seven-spice blend to suit your taste.

Toyoukejaya, a long-established tofu maker in the Kitano Tenmangu neighborhood, is the perfect place to enjoy a tasty tofu lunch.

Established as tofu shop Toyoukeya Yamamoto in 1897, Toyoukejaya is near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and has been serving freshly-made tofu at its restaurant since 1992.

Toyoukejaya

Toyoukejaya serves a full lineup of tofu foods—tofu, yuba (made from the thin film that develops when soy milk is heated), and aburage deep-fried tofu—along with namafu (wheat gluten mixed with rice flour), all deliciously prepared. The restaurant’s popularity inevitably means long lineups at lunchtime, but the wait is worth it for the chance to enjoy freshly-made tofu. The shop on the first floor is a great place to buy small gifts such as tofu manju confectionery and soy milk soap.
