Kyomachiya Chabo Sozen

New parfait Hitoe Futoe 1320 yen, limited to 10 servings a day. Tea set is 1650 yen.

Kyomachiya Souzen, a 130-year-old machiya café in Nishijin, will reopen on Saturday, April 13!

Kyomachiya Chabo Sozen (Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) is a 130-year-old machiya house where customers can enjoy authentic arare and senbei rice crackers, as well as baked ice cream and other sweets that incorporate the unique ideas of arare craftsmen. The cafe, which had been closed for a year and a half due to the new coronavirus, will reopen on April 13, 2024 (Saturday) in response to local people's requests.
Under the concept of "a café where you can experience the café," new menu items include Zenzai with the experience of baking the signature red and white tortoise shell rice cake yourself, and seared Mitarashi Warabimochi made from the signature product, Kushi Warabi (skewered strawbands). The lineup also includes a new parfait Hitoe Futae, which offers 17 different flavors in eight layers, including heart-shaped arare, coffee arare, shrimp crackers, and strawberry milk warabimochi, as well as a lineup of vegan-friendly sweets.
Enjoy a special moment with limited-edition sweets that combine tradition and innovation in a space that evokes the warmth of a traditional Kyoto townhouse.
