Kyoto cuisine parent-child culture experience project

Parents and Children Experience the Appeal of Kyoto Cuisine Kyoto Cuisine Cultural Experience Program for Parents and Children Opens in January

The "Kyoto Cooking Cultural Experience for Parents and Children" program, where parents and children can learn about Kyoto cuisine, will open three courses in January 2023. Elementary and junior high school students living or going to school in Kyoto City and their parents can experience authentic Kyoto cuisine at restaurants in Kyoto City.

Although the world of Kyoto cuisine is generally considered a hurdle to overcome, parents and children can experience "real Kyoto cuisine from a real chef" and learn not only the cuisine but also the spirit of hospitality, decoration, utensils and tools used in cooking, and other important components of Kyoto cuisine.

A scene from a lecture held in the past. Many parents and children learned about Kyoto cuisine.

Each of the first five sessions has had a different theme, such as "History and Hospitality of Kawayuka", "How to Arrange Foods to Bring Out the Best", and "Kyoto Events and Kyoto Cuisine", and each session includes a lecture, hands-on practice, and actual eating of Kyoto cuisine.

On January 15 (Sun), there will be three lectures at Sushi Matsuhiro on "Kyoto Cuisine through Tools and Techniques," on January 22 (Sun) at Kikunoi Honten on "Enjoying Kyoto Cuisine like a Museum," and on January 28 (Sat) at Kinobu on "The Chef's Attitude in Kyoto Cuisine.

Reservations will be accepted approximately one month prior to the event date. Each session is for 10 pairs of 20 people, and the fee is 4,000 yen per pair (actual meal included). For application and details, please contactSpecial siteAt.
