水の供給をつかさどる高龗神(たかおかみのかみ)を御祭神とする神社。創建年代は不明だが、約1300年前にはすでにこの地にあったと伝わる。社殿前の石垣から御神水が湧き出ている本宮、磐長姫命(いわながひめのみこと)をまつり、縁結びの御利益で有名な結社、凛とした静けさが満ちた創建の地・奥宮の三社からなる。
