KELP

A veritable hideaway at the end of a narrow alley.

KELP, specializing in oden and charcoal grill, opens in Karasuma Butsumouji. A hidden izakaya where drinks go down a treat!

Hello everyone. A sister restaurant of the popular izakaya Gokomachi ONO, which has been introduced in the Oden feature in Leaf, has opened near Karasuma Butsouji Temple. We had the opportunity to visit a preview before the opening and would like to introduce it to you.

And all the waitstaff were cheerful and energetic and made me feel very comfortable!

Walking east from Karasuma Bukouji Temple, you will find a narrow alley in front of New Karasuma Izakaya (Japanese-style pub). Turning here and walking a little further, I found the restaurant I was looking for [KELP]! The interior of the restaurant was stylish and sophisticated, while retaining a Kyoto-like atmosphere. Seating is at the counter and tables in the back, and there is also seating on the second floor.
Oden is the specialty here! It is too good for the coming cold season. Start with the standard daikon radish and thickly fried tofu, as well as egg and shoga-ten (fish cake). The oden soaked in the gentle broth will warm your body and soul. I couldn't help but say, "Sake, please. Oden dishes include winter specialties such as crab and oysters, as well as KELP's homemade shrimp dumplings and green onion and cheese wrappers.

You can order one type of oden at a time.

Another thing you can't miss is the charcoal grill. Fresh vegetables are grilled slowly and served with a variety of accompaniments such as bonito soy sauce, shichimi mayo, lemon salt, etc. to suit each ingredient. In addition, there was a wide variety of a la carte dishes such as salads and fried dishes!

KELP Cuisine

Clockwise from top left: charbroiled lotus root tabernade (black olive), fried Tokushima log shiitake mushroom, oden radish tempura, charbroiled yam with seven spice mayo.

Of course, the ingredients were delicious, but the unique garnishes created an interesting chemical reaction that further enhanced the flavor. I couldn't stop wanting to try this and that.
While enjoying the seasonal flavors, I finished with Chinese soba noodles in oden soup stock. I was very satisfied to enjoy this exquisite oden soup stock until the end.

KELP Cuisine

Clockwise from top left: oden crab, oden duck cabbage roll, oden dashi Chinese soba noodles, and cooked duck loin.

KELP has everything: good access, good atmosphere, and of course, good taste! KELP has it all! We hope you all have a wonderful evening here.
