Cafe & Restaurant Using Seafood from Ise-Shima Opens in Okazaki, Kyoto [OHARU

[OHARU] (Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) has opened in a quiet, peaceful neighborhood just off Marutamachi-dori. On the first floor is a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes made with seafood from Ise-Shima, where owner Mr. Yoshida was born and raised; it also sells bread from the renowned [Yoshida Pan Kobo] in Matsugasaki. The second floor features a sit-down area where you can leisurely enjoy bread, sandwiches, and drinks.

The first-floor table seating area, designed to evoke the feel of a beach house, is bathed in soft sunlight and features a vibrant space adorned with colorful seashells. “Once something is destroyed, it can’t be restored, so I wanted to cherish what was already there,” says the owner; the interior, which makes use of the old building, exudes a sense of warmth and nostalgia.
