[Kyoto International Manga Museum] Spreading the charm of Japanese culture from Karasuma Oike
2006（平成18）年開館。日本を代表する文化の一つ「マンガ」の収集・保管・公開と、マンガ文化に関する調査研究・展示・イベントなどを行う博物館と図書館的機能を併せ持つユニークな文化施設。建物は昭和初期に建築された元・龍池小学校の校舎を活用している。館内には江戸時代の戯画浮世絵から現在の人気作や海外のものに至るまで、約30万点のマンガ資料を所蔵。イベントや企画展にも力を入れており、マンガのもつ魅了を広く発信している。晴れた日には芝生で寝ころびながらマンガが読める。
