“Hagi Festival” where you can feel the elegance of Kyoto/Nashiki Shrine

Saturday, September 23, 2023 - Sunday, September 24, 2023
11:00-15:00
Nashinoki-jinja Shrine

From September 23 (Sat.) to 24 (Sun.), 2023, the "Hagi Festival" will be held at Nashiki Shrine, which is located next to the Kyoto Gyoen. Hagi (bush clovers), which are at their best in autumn, are said to be the plant most often mentioned in the Manyoshu (The Anthology of Myriad Leaves), and their small purple and white flowers are fragile and beautiful.

During the Hagi Matsuri (Hagi Festival), strips of paper with haiku poems are tied to the branches of the bush clovers, and dedication events such as dancing and archery performances, as well as tea ceremonies are held on the shrine grounds. Don't miss these two days to experience the traditional autumn atmosphere.

On September 17 (Sun.), the "Prefectural Citizens' Haiku Contest" will be held in the precincts of the temple.

The dates of the Hagi Festival areherecheck.
