The "Makoto Wada Exhibition" is being held until June 18, 2023 (Sun.) at the "Museum "Eki" KYOTO" attached to the JR Kyoto Station Building.
Makoto Wada (1936-2019) graduated from Tama Art University and worked for Light Vapricity before becoming widely active as an illustrator and graphic designer. He has also worked as a bookbinder, film director, essayist, composer, animation artist, art director, and many other facets of his work, and his creativity knows no bounds. He is known for designing cigarette and highlight designs, illustrations for the cover of "Weekly Bunshun," picture books with Shuntaro Tanikawa, and illustrations and book covers for numerous authors, including Shintaro Hoshi and Saiichi Marutani.
This is the first exhibition of its kind to provide an overview of Wada's vast and diverse body of work. The exhibition introduces a wide variety of works created during his 83-year life, focusing on topics that are essential to understanding Mr. Wada. This is an opportunity to experience a new side of Mr. Wada that you may not have known before.
