Nagashi Hina", a representative event of the Hina Festival in Kyoto, will be held at Shimogamo Shrine on Friday, March 3, 2023 to pray for children's good health and safety.
Men and women dressed as Hina dolls in Heian-period costume float Hina dolls on sandawara (straw bales) down the Mitarashi River to pray for the good health of the children. The general public is also welcome to participate in the ceremony and express their feelings by floating the bales down the Mitarashi River. In addition to the Nagashi Hina Ceremony, there will also be an opportunity to see people wearing juni-hitoe (12-layered kimono) and take two-shot photos in front of the hina stand, so that even small children can enjoy the event.
