This is a traditional event to send back the spirits of ancestors who have returned during Obon. Fires in the shape of pictures and letters are lit on five mountains, led by the large character for "Nyoigatake". This year is the first time in three years that the festival has been held on a regular basis after being curtailed due to the new coronavirus, and it is definitely not to be missed!

NAKED Summer Festival 2022: Nijo Castle, a World Heritage Site" is being held at Nijo Castle, a former detached palace. This time, visitors can enjoy both a realistic, interactive art tour and a virtual one in the Metaverse. In addition to the lighting up of the Karamon Gate, an important cultural property, and the Ninomaru Garden, a special place of scenic beauty, there will also be a summer production of projection mapping fireworks on the stone wall of the inner moat, which stretches about 75 meters long.

[At the Kyoto Aquarium, 130 "jellyfish wind chimes" in the shape of 21 species of jellyfish are on display. The uniquely shaped and colorful wind chimes create a cool atmosphere. Check out the limited-edition sweets with octopus jellyfish motifs.

Japan's largest lantern festival will be held at Joyo Gori-Gori-no-Oka Kyoto Prefectural Kizugawa Sports Park. The spectacle of more than several thousand lanterns floating in the sky above, turning the summer night sky orange, is breathtaking. The lanterns are made of LED lights, which do not use fire, and are collected after the event, making it an environmentally friendly event.
