CHINA TONGUE in Marutamachi, Tokyo
Hotel [nok Kyoto] (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture), which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is currently offering a special plan with a 40% discount on accommodation until Wednesday, December 31, 2025. The Leaf KYOTO editorial staff has actually stayed at the hotel under this special accommodation plan. The hotel is easily accessible from Kyoto Station, so if you are wondering which hotel to stay at for sightseeing in Kyoto, please refer to this page.
Opened in November 2015, Hotel [Nok Kyoto] is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. As a hotel that delivers memorable local experiences, it is a great place to experience the culture of Kyoto. Upon entering the hotel, you will be greeted by an impressive monkey artwork in the lobby. The monkey is said to be the southwestern guardian animal of the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and this hotel, located just southwest of the palace, has adopted it as a motif.
The elevator halls on each floor were also decorated with artwork of kimono, Japanese tableware, and other Japanese motifs, harmonizing with the calm, modern Japanese atmosphere. The serene yet graceful design made me rediscover once again the beauty of Japanese tradition. I was excited to see what kind of atmosphere the rooms would have as well.
We stayed in a premium room. The windows are large, giving an overwhelming sense of openness, and depending on the room, a view of the Kyoto Imperial Palace can be seen. There is a baggage space right next to the entrance, which can easily accommodate suitcases for two or three people. The space between the beds and desks is also spacious, so you will be able to relax and enjoy your stay.
Kyoto brand coffee from [Maeda Coffee], tea from [Marukyu Koyamaen], and other Kyoto brand products were provided in the guest rooms, giving a sense of Kyoto hospitality. It would be nice to take out sweets outside the hotel and spend a relaxing time in your room.
I was glad to feel the Kyoto-like atmosphere even when I was in the hotel, with the crane pattern on the bedboard and the artwork on the desk depicting the Yamahoko-junko procession of the Gion Festival. The design is said to vary from room to room, so please look forward to it when you stay at the hotel.
What further boosted the relaxing time in the room was the one-piece loungewear made of cotton and comfortable to the touch. I heard that many people like it so much that they buy it, which is understandable. Airwave mattresses are used in the premium rooms. I felt that the moderately firm mattress supported my body and eased my stiffness and lethargy after waking up from sleep.
What I personally like about this room is the spacious desk. It is equipped with free Wi-Fi, making it convenient for working on a computer. The make-up space, which is often a problem when traveling, was equipped with a stand mirror so I could do my make-up in a relaxed manner. The hospitality is very attentive and comfortable, and I felt that this is a "space for relaxation" rather than simply a "place to stay on a trip.
Since I chose a plan that included breakfast, I took my meal ticket to [Noku Cafe] on the first floor in the morning. I could choose from five different main plates, including a Japanese set and an American breakfast. This time, I ordered Eggs Benedict. Salad, fruit, yogurt, cereal, and bread are all-you-can-eat, and there is a wide selection of drinks.
The time spent enjoying a stylish breakfast with a view of Karasuma-dori through the window was as extraordinary as a scene from a movie.
In fact, the dining coupon can be used for lunch at the restaurant [Jia Wei Singapore] on the B1F, where you can enjoy new Singaporean x Chinese cuisine. The restaurant is currently serving a Singaporean specialty called chili proun to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the founding of Singapore. If you like ethnic food or Chinese food, you may want to take a walk around the area before having lunch.
When choosing a hotel for your trip to Kyoto, accessibility is an important factor. From Kyoto Station, take the subway Karasuma Line bound for Kokusaikaikaikan, and you will arrive at the nearest Marutamachi Station in about 7 minutes. During peak hours, trains run every 5 minutes, so there is little waiting time and the trip is smooth. The subway provides easy access to the center of Kyoto and its sightseeing spots.
The area surrounding the hotel is also dotted with attractive spots. In addition to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, the Kyoto International Manga Museum, and the Kyoto Incense Center, a center for the dissemination of information on incense, are all within walking distance of the hotel! A stroll through the streets of Kyoto is also recommended.
And what's more, the hotel is currently running a campaign to celebrate its 10th anniversary, offering a 40% discount on accommodation fees if you stay until December 31, 2025 (Wednesday). Although I stayed in a Premium Room this time, you can choose your favorite accommodation plan according to your stay style, such as a House Room perfect for solo travelers, or a Deluxe Room for a relaxing stay with friends or family.

I was also pleased with the attention to detail, such as the kind words of encouragement from the staff during my stay. I used to spend most of my hotel stays just sleeping, but I was able to relax comfortably and treat myself.
The hotel is conveniently located to everywhere you need to go, so it is perfect for those who want to visit various sightseeing spots in Kyoto and those who want to enjoy Kyoto's culture and city air in a relaxed atmosphere.
Take advantage of this great deal and enjoy Kyoto's hospitality.
