1.[What is "TeamLab BioVortex Kyoto"?

TeamLab has been presenting artworks that overturn the common sense and imagination of people all over the world, and this museum offers a "body immersive art experience. At the time of the preview, only seven works of art were open to the public, but in fact, visitors can enjoy a total of more than 50 works of art, including some that have never been exhibited in Japan.

The seven works on view are "Massless Amorphous Sculpture," "Morphing Continuum," "Untitled," "Bird Path," "The Eternal Universe of Words," "One Stroke-a Year in the Mountains," and "One Stroke-Fire. in the Mountains," and "One Stroke-Fire.

Massless Amorphous Sculpture

Massless Amorphous Sculpture," a giant floating sculpture, is a work created not by an object but by a special environment based on the concept of environmental phenomena: "The environment creates phenomena, and those phenomena create existence. The entire surface of the space is filled with a huge floating sculpture made of soap bubbles. The sculpture changes its shape according to the change of order caused by the energy of the surrounding environment, and although it exists, it has no definite form. It was a fantastic space where mysterious "life-like sculptures" were born from bubbles and drifted about.

Morphing Continuum

Morphing Continuum" is a silver ball that floats, changes shape, and stays in the air. The mysterious existence, which moves like a living thing and regenerates itself even after being broken, makes one feel as if life is floating in the air.

Forest of Resonating Lamps: One Stroke - Fire

Many of you may have seen the fantastic installation "Forest of Lamps in Response" at least once, in which lamps spread throughout the space emit light in response to the movement of people. When someone gently approaches a lamp, the lamp glows strongly, then moves to the nearest lamp, and then to the next lamp, and so on, like a series of strokes. The seemingly random sequence of lamps is actually arranged according to a mathematical formula derived by mathematicians to create the light.

The teamLab BioVortex Kyoto will be located in Kyoto, a city with a long history. We would be happy if this museum could be a part of the continuing history of Kyoto," said the person in charge of the project.
For the editors who experienced Team Lab's work for the first time, it was truly a series of surprises. The immersive experience that envelops all five senses is best described as "being bathed in" rather than "touching" art.
The grand opening is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2025! Come and lose yourself in the new vortex of art that has appeared in the south of Kyoto Station.
