July 12, 2025 open
Sumire Coffee (Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) opened in an area where many people come and go, an eight-minute walk from Kyoto Station. The café is operated by a company that excavates and researches archaeological sites, and the store has a unique display of artifacts excavated during renovation work. The interior, which was built over 100 years ago, was dismantled and renovated by the company itself.
[The name "Sumire Coffee" was borrowed from "Sumire Shoten," a store that the owner's grandmother used to run in Nara Prefecture. The owner's soft and thoughtful service is comfortable, and the relaxing atmosphere makes you want to stay longer.
