Iemon Salon moves from Karasuma Sanjo to Gion! [Reopened as Iyemon Salon Atelier Kyoto

The popular cafe [Iemon Salon Kyoto] in Karasuma Sanjo has regrettably closed. For those of you who were saddened to find that you will no longer be able to experience the taste and atmosphere of Iemon Salon...! Actually, Iyemon Salon has not disappeared, but has been relocated to Higashiyama! The name of the reopened store is Iyemon Salon Atelier Kyoto. I was able to go to a preview of the new Iyemon Salon, so I would like to introduce you to the new Iyemon Salon, which is even more powerful than before.

1.Spacious townhouse space

The location is a little further south from the south gate of Yasaka Shrine. It retains the good old appearance of a machiya (townhouse), and its exterior has the atmosphere of a hideout.

The exterior of the building has a calm atmosphere.

The first floor is lined with spacious counter seats. These seats are prime locations where you can watch the food being prepared right in front of you. There is a private room in the back with table seating, so there is no need to worry if you want to dine with more than one person. Not only the desks and chairs, but also the rugs are modern and stylish.

In addition to the private rooms on the second floor, there is a dedicated space called "THE BAR & TEA ROOM" where you can enjoy tea and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere! This is a truly "luxurious" time where you can enjoy a variety of arranged teas that can only be enjoyed here. The restaurant is also planning to hold a tea program called "SHAZA KISSA" in the future.

2.Culinary menu created by a renowned chef and producer

Now, let me introduce the menu you have been waiting for. The previous Iyemon Salon had a café menu, but this time we have a full meal menu. The food menu is produced by Mr. Tokuoka, executive chef of Kyoto Kitcho, Mr. Yonemura, owner and chef of Restaurant Yonemura, which used to be located here, and chef SHIORI, author of "His Gohan (food) I want to cook for him" and others!

The menu varies depending on the time of the day, from morning breakfast, which features dishes such as Okayu Gozen, to lunch and dinner, which includes steamed sushi and rice cooked in a kettle. Drinks and desserts can be ordered at any time.

This time, we had the Iemon Salon course for dinner for 3,800 yen (excluding tax), so I will focus on that course.

(Left) Kyoto vegetables and natto dip (Right) Assorted 3 kinds of obanzai

The first one is grated seasonal vegetables. This time it was onion surinagashi! The sweetness of the ingredients spread in your mouth, and you could drink as much as you wanted.

Next came the Kyoto Farmer's Vegetables - with Fermented Dip. This natto sauce, while retaining the flavor and grains of natto, has just the right amount of sweetness from the grated vegetables, making it a must for natto lovers. The three different types of obanzai (side dishes), such as matcha green tea boiled tofu and grilled eggplant and steamed chicken with namul, offered different tastes.

As for the main dish you have been waiting for, you can choose from a hamburger steak (+500 yen), today's fish dish, or today's vegetable dish. This time, I had the saikyo yaki (grilled Spanish mackerel) from the fish dish and the furofuki daikon (radish) from the vegetable dish. Both dishes have a gentle flavor and are a perfect match for the delicious ingredients and miso.

For rice, you can choose from either go-mei-zushi (steamed sushi) or seasonal kettle cooked rice. For an additional charge, you can also choose to have steamed sushi with sea bream or wagyu beef. This season's kamadaki-gohan (rice cooked in a pot with a pot of rice) was beans and rice! The Gomoku Steamed Sushi also looks and tastes great!

Well, it is not over yet! After a hearty meal, you will want something sweet, right? This course comes with a snack, and you can choose one of the many sweets available. These are all vegan sweets without eggs or dairy products. They are served with tea after the meal!

You can choose from an unlimited variety of Western and Japanese sweets, ice cream, and baked goods!

We have introduced a course meal, but of course you can also order a la carte.

3.A drink menu not to be missed

Finally, we introduce some of the notable items from the drink menu that can be ordered at any time of the day.
I had the Vegetable Matcha Latte Purple Plum and the Matcha Fruit Shrub RED. The Vegetable Matcha Latte is a three-layer drink with vegetable purée on the bottom, soy or almond milk in the middle and matcha on top. The bitterness of the matcha mixed with the sweetness of the vegetables was a taste I had never had before, but it was very delicious. The matcha fruit shrub has fruit jelly and vinegar on the bottom and matcha on top, so the sweet and sour taste mixed with the bitterness of the matcha is also a strange taste, but delicious! Very satisfying!

There were also many other items on the drink menu, including Hojicha Negroni, which is a perfect combination of hojicha and potato shochu, and Changria, a sangria with sencha tea, as well as dessert menus such as parfaits and pancakes.

Since crowds are expected here, we recommend that you make a reservation, especially if you are considering a meal menu! We hope you will all enjoy a luxurious moment at the newly renovated Iemon Salon.
