A small bag with an Otsu-e (painting of Otsu, the birthplace of Shiga Prefecture) on it contains an assortment of crispy and crunchy arare (rice crackers) and okaki (Japanese crackers). The main ingredient is glutinous rice from Omi, a rice-producing region, and they are uniquely flavored and baked in the traditional way. The savory, full-bodied taste, which has been preserved by artisans, continues to be loved by arare connoisseurs.

Natto is a processed food made from an original recipe of natto (fermented soybeans) and moromi (barley malt) from Shiga Prefecture, Rishiri kelp, marudaimame soy sauce, honey from Shiga Prefecture, and other seasonings, then re-fermented. The product has become a popular item when it was first sold at the Hamaotsu Kakoritsu morning market and roadside stations, and can be eaten as is or on top of rice. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a new specialty born in the town of Otsu.

A total of six designs, four from The Tale of Genji picture scrolls owned by Ishiyama-ji Temple (related to Murasaki Shikibu) (Murasaki Shikibu, Suetsumika, Hanaye, and Hatsune) and two from The Tale of Genji Museum (Uji City) (Hashihime and Sagimiya), are vividly printed on ultrafine fiber cleaning cloth developed by Toray Industries, Inc. The cloth can also be used as an art cloth, reproducing the details of people and backgrounds in vivid detail. This gem of a collaboration between Toray's cutting-edge technology and advanced materials, founded in Otsu, and classical Japanese paintings is recommended as a souvenir for people overseas.

In the Edo period (1603-1867), Otsu, Shiga, was known as "Otsu Hyakumachi" because of the variety of goods and people that came and went in the area.
The "Otsu Hyakumachi Hyakufuku Monogatari" brand introduces excellent products that are recognized as being of such high quality that one can feel "Hyakufuku," focusing on those deeply related to the materials, history, culture, and technology created by the "Otsu Hyakumachi".
The project began in 2014, and three new products will be added in 2022, bringing the total number of certified products to 47.
