Kanchiin temple

[The Kanchi-in Temple, a pagoda located in the To-ji Temple complex, offers sutra chanting to help you prepare your mind for the next stage of your journey.

Kanchi-in Temple, founded in 1359, is a pagoda temple located within To-ji Temple. There are many highlights, such as the Kyakuden (guest hall) with an eagle painted by Miyamoto Musashi when he hid himself, and the only statue of Godai Kokuzo Bodhisattva seated on a bird and beast in Japan.

In 2023, a garden for chief priests was created to commemorate the 1200th anniversary of the founding of the Rikkyo sect of Shingon Buddhism. Visitors can sit on the porch and enjoy the view of the five-story pagoda soaring above the landscape, where the expanse of wisdom is expressed in lines of Shirakawa gravel.
