Yasui Konpira-gu Shrine is famous throughout Japan as a shrine for severing bad marriages and bringing good luck. The shrine became a place to pray for the severance of all causalities and bad marriages after the defeat of Emperor Sutoku in the Hogen Disturbance (1156), when he was exiled to Kintohira Shrine in Sanuki, where he renounced all greed and went to pray. The monument has a hole in the center, and it is said that if you hold a substitute for yourself and make a wish, pass through the monument from front to back and back to front again, and finally put the substitute on the monument, your wish will be fulfilled. It is said to keep away not only the relationship between a man and a woman, but also bad habits and misfortunes.
