Monday, January 2, 2023 - Sunday, January 29, 2023
9:30-17:00 (last admission 16:30)
Kyoto National Museum Heisei-Chishinkan 1F-2
The annual New Year's themed exhibition on the Chinese zodiac signs will be held at the Kyoto National Museum's Heisei Chishin-kan.
In association with the Chinese zodiac sign for 2023, the Year of the Rabbit, various rabbits appearing in Japanese and Chinese art will be introduced as a family-friendly project that can be enjoyed by a wide range of children and adults, including easy explanatory text (from upper elementary school students) and worksheets (from lower elementary school students; multilingual versions available) that make viewing artwork fun. The exhibition will be held at the museum's main building, located on the second floor of the building.
Since "autumn," when the moon is particularly beautiful, was associated with the "moon rabbit," rabbits were often depicted with autumn grasses as well, and have been represented by being associated with various things as in a game of association. Come and look for the various rabbits in the exhibition room.
