Nagahama City, known for its ties to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Ishida Mitsunari, and Asai Nagamasa, has announced that it will open the Kotani Castle Sengoku Experience Museum (tentative name) (design: Katsuhiko Endo Architectural Institute) in Ibe, Kohoku-cho, Nagahama City, in autumn 2027. The museum will replace the Kotani Castle Sengoku Historical Museum, which has exhibits focusing on Kotani Castle, one of the most famous mountain castles in Japan that was the residence of Nagamasa Asai. The museum introduces the Warring States period and the stories related to the three generations of Asai through videos, panels, and actual documents.

The facility is expected to attract 30,000 visitors a year, who can enjoy a tour of the ruins of Kotani Castle and surrounding historical sites. which will be broadcast in 2026.
