The spring-only dessert Oka, which expresses the taste of cherry blossoms without using cherry blossoms, was inspired by a waka poem by Saigyo Houshi, and has a lovely shape reminiscent of a hill in full bloom. Composed of passion fruit, green tea powder, cherries, tonka bean cream, and bergamot mousse, it is said to represent a scene of a meadow watching the night sky. At "GALLERY" on the 4th floor, calligrapher Saori Kunihiro is currently holding a solo exhibition titled "2021 Tanka," in which she is displaying works of tanka poetry that depict various perspectives on contemporary life, such as human relationships in the age of social networking, gender, and environmental issues. In an exhibition space with a Japanese atmosphere, including hanging scrolls and three-dimensional works using lacquer, tanka poems depicting contemporary sentiments and society through a variety of expressive methods provide viewers with an opportunity to look at the present.
