The owner, Mr. Yamaguchi, started Hoan Hoan Saga Arashiyama in 2006, hoping to open a Chinese restaurant in Saga Arashiyama, where he was born and raised, for three generations to enjoy. It is a popular restaurant that is always crowded with people of all ages, including locals and tourists. The restaurant uses local ingredients such as Kyoto Poku, Manganji chili pepper, Kyo-machiya soy sauce, and Saikyo miso, in the hope that customers will come all the way to Kyoto to taste Kyoto ingredients. Not only does he insist on the place of production, but he also visits the production sites and selects only what he sees with his own eyes and is convinced of.
