The place I go when I really want to eat Indian curry...
It’s about a 10-minute walk along Senbon Street from the [Nijo Station] subway stop. Wiping the sweat from my brow, I arrived at [YAMAZAKI COFFEE], a café beloved by locals.
It’s a shop with a mysterious charm—one that envelops you in nostalgia while also giving off a sense of something new.
I visited [YAMAZAKI COFFEE] a little after 9:00 a.m. on a weekday. In front of the shop, alongside the sign for the breakfast menu, there was a notice about the daily lunch special, which is served starting at 11:30 a.m.
The café is already bustling, and the air is filled with the rich aroma of coffee and the delightful smell of pancakes sizzling on the griddle.
Near the windows are table seats that can be arranged flexibly to accommodate any number of guests, while the center features a long table and counter seating where you can sit comfortably. Furthermore, at the back of the restaurant, there is a spacious, glass-enclosed smoking area.
Next to a regular customer reading the newspaper, a family from overseas is enjoying breakfast together. Perhaps the reason everyone can relax in their own way is the cozy atmosphere of this café.
The breakfast menu offers two options: toast and pancakes. Depending on your mood that day, you can add extras like sausage, eggs, or salad. If you’re in the mood for something sweet in the morning, we recommend adding whipped cream to your pancakes for an extra 200 yen.
The leisurely wait for the bread to bake is truly special. As I waited, a delightful, toasty aroma began to waft gently from the dough, which was being steamed on a copper plate.
Copper Plate Pancake Set A: 900 yen. The set drink is iced tea (with milk).
What was served was a beautiful, perfectly round pancake with a plump, domed center. Its appearance, straight out of a picture book, made my heart leap with joy.
A luxurious moment spent savoring fluffy pancakes generously drizzled with maple syrup. With just one bite, the sweetness bursts in your mouth, bringing an involuntary smile to your face.
When enjoyed with iced tea poured into an Adelia Retro floral-patterned glass, even an ordinary morning becomes a little more special.
[YAMAZAKI COFFEE] is a place where the warmth of a long-established, locally rooted café blends perfectly with modern sensibilities.
Our famous hotcakes are cooked slowly on a copper griddle, so it takes a little while to serve them. Be sure to plan your visit with plenty of time to spare.
