The most popular main dishes, such as ponkara and grilled fish, are surrounded by the owner's homemade obanzai (side dishes). In addition to the four daily specials such as bitter gourd with salted kelp, vinegared kiriboshi-daikon, hijiki and green soybean salad, and bamboo shoots with okaka seaweed, all the side dishes and rice dishes are free refills, making the restaurant well known for its good value.
